How the FIRE number is calculated

Your FIRE number is the portfolio size at which your investments generate enough to cover your annual expenses indefinitely.

FIRE number = Annual expenses / Safe withdrawal rate

At a 4% withdrawal rate and €30,000 annual expenses: FIRE number = €30,000 / 0.04 = €750,000. The projection uses compound growth month by month until your savings reach this number.
